Use of StudioLab Equipment
StudioLab equipment is for use by Furman students, faculty, and staff. You don't have to be working on a class project or assignment to use our machines--you're welcome to just explore or exercise your creativity. Please bear in mind, however, that our primary mission is academic support. There may be occasions on which we must ask you to move to a different computer to accommodate a more urgent need.
The StudioLab printer is a black and white printer only, and is available for use by Furman faculty, students, and staff. While there is no charge for printing in the StudioLab, this privilege comes with an injunction: you may not use the StudioLab printer as a free copy service! Normal usage, such as printing a couple of copies of a paper, is fine; egregious misuse, such as downloading and printing an entire book or website or printing up flyers for your next party, are not. If you need to print a substantial document, please check with us first. Our printer also cannot print to any sort of special paper (i.e., resume paper, or paper larger than 11" x 17"). If you need multiple copies of a document, or have special needs for your printouts, visit the Digital Express in the University Center.
We're often asked about checking out equipment, such as digital cameras and video cameras. All StudioLab equipment stays in the StudioLab at all times with the exception of our digital video cameras that are available for check out. See the section on video consultations for details about video camera check out.
