Hardware

All hardware listed is for use inside the StudioLab only--none of our equipment leaves the StudioLab for any reason (with the exception of seventeen digital video cameras and five audio recorders). See our Policies, e-mail us, or call x2323 if you have any questions. If you're not sure what hardware you might need for your project, call us and we'll help you figure it out.

Hardware and what it can be used for in the StudioLab
11 Video editing iMacs running Windows XP and Leopard (OS 10.5); each operating system has approximately 200 GB of project storage space. The built in iSight cameras and internal microphones are available for use with both operating systems.
17 Digital video cameras (for student checkout)
4 StudioLab digital video cameras (for use inside CCLC only)
11 VCR/DVD combos for transferring video from VHS tapes to the computer for editing (not for viewing tapes--there are multimedia viewing rooms in the Library for watching tapes or listening to media)
11 digital-analog converters to convert from digital to analog video and vice versa (VHS to computer and computer to VHS).
4 Epson flatbed scanners (each scans up to 8.5 in. x 11 in.)
1 Hewlett Packard Photosmart scanner (scans slides, negatives, and 4" x 6" photos)
3 external firewire/USB hard drives, one PC formatted and two Mac formatted
2 audio tape players with 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cords for transferring from audio tapes to digital format on the computer (and burning to CD)
2 projectors for student presentation practice (prearrangement and reservation required)
1 Smartboard for CCLC class presentations
1 Compact Flash/Multimedia card (secure digital) 52-in-1 card reader for reading memory cards such as those from a digital camera
1 MIDI keyboard for use with Garageband
